Day 1: Arrival at Nairobi Airport
Our office staff / driver will meet you at Nairobi Airport. Drive you to your hotel for check-in, waiting for bird watching in the next day. Overnight at Hillpark Hotel Meal Plan: Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park (4 hours drive)
After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park which is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes and as a result the lake has abundance of algae used to attract many birds species. Later in the afternoon, you will start bird watching and expect to encounter bird species like Greater Flamingo, Lesser Flamingo, White-headed Buffalo Weaver, Martial Eagle, Bateleur, European roller, Grey crowned crane, Great snipe, Greater spotted eagle, Grey-crested helmet-shrike, Lesser kestrel, Long-tailed widowbird, Maccoa duck, Montane white-eye, Northern puffback, Pallid harrier, Red-capped lark. Day 3: Lake Nakuru NP – Lake Baringo (3 hours drive)
With your early morning breakfast start away your bird watching safari at Lake Nakuru National Park and if you missed your favorite bird species in the previous day, please tell it to your birding guide he will spot it for you. Therefore this morning your welcome to see species like Long-crested Eagle, African Spoonbill, Eurasian Spoonbill, Knob-billed Duck, Egyptian Goose, Rüppell’s vulture, Rüppell’s robin-chat, Schalow’s wheatear, Shining sunbird, Slender-billed greenbuls, Sooty falcon, Speke’s weaver, Western reef heron, White-fronted bee-eater, and White-headed vulture. Day 4: Bird watching at Lake Baringo
Enjoy your day with morning and evening bird watching at Lake Baringo. This day is so interesting because you will explore most of the bird species at this Lake and as a result of its fresh waters, also an oasis in the arid plains. The lake acts as a home of various bird species among which include Flycatchers, African Fish Eagle, Marabou Storks, Shikra, White-faced Scops Owl, Hemprich”s Hornbill, African Darter, African skimmer, Eurasian Spoonbill, Common Ostrich, Maccoa Duck, Helmeted Guineafowl, Superb Starling, Verreaux’s eagle, Spotted thick-knees, Lichtenstein’s Sandgrouses and Eleonora’s Falcon. Day 5: Lake Baringo – Lake Naivasha (4 hours drive)
After your breakfast in the morning, you will drive to Lake Naivasha which is one of the interesting points for bird watchers and I would not like you to miss it out. Arrive in afternoon time for lunch at your hotel. Thereafter you will start your bird watching at Lake Naivasha and expect to see bird species like Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Hottentots Teal, Helmeted Guineafowl, Common Quail, Greater Flamingo, Little Grebe, Speckled Pigeon, Laughing Dove, Black Cuckoo, Nyanza Swift, African Crake, Pied Avocet, Senegal Lapwing, Crowned Lapwing, Eleonora’s Falcon, Greater Kestral, Yellow-necked Spurfowl, Eurasian Weagon, Sacred Ibis and Kori Bustard. Day 6: Bird Watching at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary
Leave your accommodation in the morning after your breakfast then drive to the eastern part of Lake Naivasha to embark on your boat to the Island. Thereafter start your bird watching at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary which is one of the most beautiful places in Kenya surrounded by water and it can be accessed by boat from the west, east and also by road. With the strategic location and the beauty of this island, it is a home to many species of birds among which they include Black Egret, Little Egret, Spur-winged Goose, Intermediate Egret, Goliath Heron, African Darter, Kori Bustard, Red-knobbed Coot, African Spoonbill, Helmeted-shrike, Basra Reed Warbler, Lesser Flamingo and Little Grebe. Day 7: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara National Reserve (6 hours drive)
This morning, our driver guide will drive you to Masai Mara National Reserve located in south western Kenya bordering Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, also known for its wildebeest migration and beside the various animals found in this place, the national reserve also contains over 470 species of birds. After lunch you will start your evening bird watching and expect to see many species of birds among which include Fischer’s Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Purple-crested Turaco, Schalow’s Turaco, African Scops-Owl, Trilling Cisticola, Usambiro barbet, White-bellied go-away bird, Woolly-necked stork, Yellow-mantled widowbird, Yellow-throated sandgrouse, Secretary bird, Silverbird, Southern ground hornbill, Swahili sparrow, Tabora cisticola and Temminck’s course. Day 8: Bird watching at the west of Masai Mara National Reserve
Wake up in the morning with a cup of African Coffee and snacks getting ready for the whole day bird watching with your birding guide especially on the eastern side of the national reserve. So on this day you will view bird species like Abdim’s stork, African finfoot, Grey penduline tit, African wood owl, Ayres’s hawk eagle, Cinnamon-breasted bunting, Denham’s bustard, Giant kingfisher, Grey-crested helmet-shrike, Hildebrandt’s starling, Jackson’s widowbird, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Spotted Eagle-owl, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Giant Kingfisher and White-throated Bee-eater among others. Day 9: Bird watching at the East of Masai Mara National Reserve
After your breakfast you will drive to Masai Mara triangle for bird watching which borders Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is the most productive part of the entire Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in terms of grass nutrition, seasonal marshes, open plains and forest habitats, providing homes for a great diversity of birds such as Hildebrandt’s starling, Jackson’s widowbird, Ostrich, Purple grenadier, Red-throated tit, Lazy Cisticola, Ross’s turaco, Rosy-throated long claw, Green-capped Eremomela, Black-collared Apalis, Chin-spot Batis, Black-throated Wattle-eye, African Paradise-flycatcher and Rufous Chatterer. Day 10: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi Airport / Out (6 hours drive)
Transfer to Nairobi airport after your breakfast for your flight back home.
