Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Arrive at Kigali International airport in the morning/afternoon, meet and greet assistance. You will be warmly welcomed by Luxland Africa Vacations representative outside customs and Immigration hall then you will be transferred to the city then proceed to Volcanoes National Park. The park protects the rare Mountain Gorillas and it is characterized by the steep slopes of the different mountain ranges, rich Mosaic of Montanne ecosystem, open grassland, heath and bamboo forest which have supported the existence of the rare Mountain Gorillas.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

This is the highlight of your trip in Rwanda, early morning breakfast then proceeds to the park headquarters for the gorilla trek briefing, there are 10 Gorilla families in Volcanoes, and so the ranger guides will group you into 8 people to track a specific gorilla family. The Gorilla trek has been approved to be the most exciting experience in the world, so this is where your story begins and upon encountering this Mountain Gorillas, you are entitled to a full hour in the presence of these Gorillas. Experience their way of living, interaction, coupling, feeding as the young ones swing on the tree branches. Later, you will be picked by your guide back to the lodge for leisure and relaxation for the whole evening as you enjoy your lodge and its surrounding.

Day 3: Musanze Cave Visit and Canoe Ride in the Twin Lakes

After breakfast, get ready for a Musanze cave visit, the 1.25-mile long Musanze caves are located just outside of the town they share a name with “Musanze” it takes 2.5 hours walk through this magnificent caves. Check-out from the room with your luggage then you will be driven to the Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. The lakes are located at the base of the Mount Muhabura, close to the Volcanoes national park (about 1 hour drive). The view of the surrounding landscape of the lakes is impressive with its wetland habitats, water birds, and the Virunga volcanoes. A boat ride on the fresh waters of Rwanda twin lakes is a complement to gorilla safaris in Volcanoes national park. The canoe ride will reward you with a breath of fresh air, spectacular views of the green vegetation and various water birds. Have lunch then proceed to the magnificent Lake Kivu.

Day 4: Leisure and Relaxation at Lake Kivu

The whole day is meant for leisure and relaxation at Lake Kivu. Optional Boat cruise and coffee tour experience on Lake Kivu and Kisimbiri.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali International Airport

After breakfast, you will be driven to Kigali International airport so that you can catch up with your evening flight to the next destination.

  • Gorilla permit to be paid and secured in advance ($1500 per person is included).
  • Park entrance fees.
  • Musanze caves.
  • Meet and greet service.

Optional activities:

  • Boat cruise on Lake Kivu.
  • Coffee experience in Kisimbiri.
  • Genocide museum if time allows.

However, the Safari excludes:
